Cargo electric tricycles from China are solving Indonesia’s “last-mile” transport problem. Local business owners use them to deliver bottled water, farm products and daily supplies across the country’s islands.
The Chinese tricycles have strong load capacity and cost far less than traditional cargo vehicles. Many local dealers set up stores on multiple Indonesian islands, and the business is growing fast.
Farmers and small traders can drive these vehicles directly into farmlands. After a full charge, they can work all day. Local entrepreneurs expect electric tricycles to gradually replace many old fuel vehicles in Indonesia.
